BASKETBALL VARSITY MISSION STATEMENT

It was determined to start with a Mission Statement for the program and then develop the objectives for each team.

Overall Program:
Key words/concepts/values to include: Independence, competition, athletic skills, life skills, self-esteem, sportsmanship, character, socialization.

The Mission of the Wheelchair Basketball program is to develop character and independence; to promote social and athletic skills, and to foster self-confidence and emotional well-being.

Varsity:

Age is under 21 and still in high school

Basket height is ten feet.

Highest level of competition.

Strive to win.

Try-outs.

Younger athletes can try out for Varsity with parent permission/commitment

Must be physically/athletically / emotionally / developmentally prepared for this level of competition.

May have more than one practice per week.

Must commitment to all structured practices, games, tournaments .
